They say everything about this weekend is going to be SUPER.
I know this, it is SUPER cold. Brrrr
But at least we are not as cold as Minneapolis is…
SUPER BOWL 52…the Patriots versus the Eagles… New England versus Philadelphia…
There are the “favorites” and there are the “underdogs.”
One team making their “10th appearance” and the other team making their “third” appearance…
One QB … with 5 rings currently on his fingers and the other one with none…one a 40 yr old and the other still in his twenties…
Which team will dominate in the “red-zone?”
Which Nick Foles will show up at the game?
Will the roller-coaster ride continue? Will it be hit or miss?
And then we have the “brady bunch.”
I am sure you remember “Spy-gate” and “Deflate-gate?” What can we look forward to – this time around?
Will Gronk play?
Is this the last game for Tom Brady?
I know, who cares? The Pack is not in it!
But it will be “interesting to see:”
What part will penalties play?
And what about those refs?
And will there be turnovers?
And of course, you can never count the Eagle’s out?
Will the Pat’s be able to stop the Eagle’s running game?
Can Brady be put under pressure?
Can the Eagles defense get the Pats to make some major mistakes?
I know this that US Bank Stadium is going to be like one big SUPER huge petri-dish of cold and flu viruses…
It will be interesting to see who the SUPER-heroes will be.
Speaking of which, what about Jesus?
It’s still the Sabbath-“same day as last week.” He leaves the synagogue and goes right to Simon and Andrew’s house.
When he gets there he discovers that Simon’s mother-in-law was very sick and stuck in bed.
All Jesus had to do was to touch her hand and she was instantly healed. It was amazing!
And for the record, I do have to tell you, you do not touch a woman who is unrelated to you, you do not heal on the Sabbath day, and she should not be working on the Sabbath day, serving them anything. All three of those things are against Jewish law and make you unclean.
Jesus obviously didn’t care. It wasn’t important.
And this of course, was on the heels of the healing in the Synagogue. Everyone was so excited and in shock that they ran to tell everyone they knew, especially those who were sick.
Everyone needed to see “this guy” with the SUPER healing powers.
The next thing you knew, as soon as sky darkened and three stars could be seen in the nights’ sky, the Sabbath was over…and a vast crowd of humanity…in all of its fragility, with open sores and demon possessed jittery people, folks that were contagious, with their groans and moans of pain were all milling around under torch light at the door of Andrew and Simon.
Talk about a SUPER BOWL…this was a “SUPER BOWL of healing” … a marathon of marathons. Person after person came to the door, and Jesus touched each one that he could – healing them of anything they had.
In the middle of the night – Jesus snuck out of the house and went off to pray. He was obviously seeking direction.
More people would come. More people would seek him out. In the midst of “the pain of humanity, God himself was present…”
But this ministry was about getting the word out, preaching the good news, and talking about the Kingdom of God…
It was a pitfall to stay in one place, he felt sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. To all the lost sheep… Not just in Capernaum…or just in Galilee…but in all of Israel and beyond.
The time to move on was “now”…God’s love, forgiveness, compassion, mercy and kindness was meant to be shared with ALL. They needed to be back on the road…
Time was of the essence and there was no time to waste…the clock was ticking loudly…and Jesus could hear it!
