YOU would quote scriptures, to ME?
YOU “USE” God’s Holy Word like it is a “weapon or something…”
Is that the “rightful use” of his WORD…
Haha, you’re doing it wrong and “I can prove it…”
“Take that”
“And that”
“And that…”
His word is a condemning word. And I will condemn YOU.
I will hit you over the head with Exodus 20. 8-11 and if that doesn’t knock some sense into you – then I will hit you AGAIN with Deuteronomy 5. 12-15…
I will hit you with everything I’ve got! The whole arsenal…
While I agree, God’s word is meant to be “grappled” with, “wrestled” with and “struggled” with…
Did he really give us the law so that we could “use it” AGAINST ONE ANOTHER to “condemn one another?”
YOU are WRONG and I am RIGHT!
God’s word SAYS so….
Its right here in black and white…read it and weep…
There is more at stake here than just a Sabbath Day healing…
I thought the WORD was meant to be uplifting, edifying and supportive…
Who knew? That it was meant to “clobber another person over the head” with?
Breakin’ the Sabbath was one of those things that Jesus “did best.”
He enjoyed “the moment.”
It was a “teaching moment…”
They still did not get it – God gave us the Sabbath TO ENJOY…
Instead they turned it into a LEGALITY…cut in granite.
Of, course, to be interpreted and understood THEIR WAY only!
Far be it, for anyone to actually ENJOY the Sabbath…
SO, as was his routine, he was teaching on a Sabbath, as he was expected to do…
When lo and behold “he sees” – HE SEES, he notices, he observes, he spies a poor “down and out” hunched over woman.
All she sees is “her own feet” and the “dirt floor” beneath her. She cannot look “up.” From the looks of her, she hasn’t been able to look UP for a very long time.
Today we know the three main type of spine curvature disorders are: Lordosis, Kyphosis (which causes Osteoporosis) and scoliosis…BUT THEN, it was a demon or a spirit possession that laid hold of her.
One look is all it took. One look was more than sufficient.
Jesus was immediately filled with compassion. His heart went out to this “poor soul.” He knew he could help her, relieve her pain and help her to stand upright once again – so he did JUST that. And, of course, it was a Sabbath.
He lays his hands on her and sets her free, she is able to stand again. She can see into Jesus’ eyes. She can see the faces of those around her. She can see the inside of the synagogue. She can see the sky…and SHE PRAISES GOD.
But to no surprise to us, the chief of the Synagogue is more than mildly annoyed. He is ticked. He is mad. He is fuming.
What’s wrong with tomorrow?
What are you doing on Tuesday at 3 P.M.? Why now? Don’t you know the law?
Jesus calls him a hypocrite and all that would side with him, as well.
You know what the “common practice” is…animals have to be let out, watered, fed. Cows have to be milked. Sabbath or not!
You do these things…all the time. You take them for granted. Things that have to be done…
It’s on your “honey do list”…Sabbath or no Sabbath…
But you would prefer that this daughter of Abraham continue to suffer…continue to be in pain, continue to hurt.
Are you really saying that your dog, your cat, your cow, your chickens, your goat are more important than this poor woman? She is a fellow Jew. Is your cow Jewish? Your goat?
Do you not see how you are being inconsistent? Not to mention inhumane? You are being mean and horrendous?
God gave us this day to enjoy, to love and to care for one another…and to embrace Him who created all of us…this poor woman included. And NO ONE said a thing………..
